RowPorty’s safety procedures and other information relevant to safety will be described here.

The Rowing and Coxing Guide focuses on safety and many of the sections are all about safety, e.g. lifejackets, the danger of broaches and use of the drogue. All rowers are encouraged to read it (and suggest any improvements).

We also have a voluntary Rowers’ Self Assessment and a Captains Self Assessment, which may be useful to emphasise some important safety points.

Incidents are few and far between, but there have been some over the years. A procedure for dealing with incidents is outlined in the Rowing and Coxing Guide.

Incident reports will be kept here for reference – Incident Reports. (This page is password protected for members only – if you don’t know it, ask the webmaster). As the saying goes, those who do not learn the lessons of history are destined to repeat them.
